Term 4 Writing Task
Writing task next term is going to be a little different. This term students will be writing using their senses to describe a certain object, sound or smell etc. This can be up to them how it is completed as everybody’s senses are a little different. Encourage students to use descriptive language, as well as maintain their goal focus. The item might spark a story or article, perhaps a poem or letter.
For example –
Touch – A box that only has an arm hole in it. Students are required to put their hand in the box and touch the object and describe what they have touched. They are not to see the object. This object may be changed each day. It could be revealed at Find out Friday.
Taste – Students could be offered a small piece of licorice, jelly bean or something of a unique flavouring to eat and describe.
Sound – A sound file could be loaded onto the puzzler page and students are required to listen to this before their writing task for the week. It could be a song, or a sound file or ocean sounds etc. Up to you!!
Sight – Either a picture or an object that is placed in an area of the SLU that students can go have a look at and write about.
Smell – Not sure how this one could start...?! Perhaps a small perfume tester with no label, or a ‘friendly’ chemical that students are allowed to smell!?! Smelly cheese?
